Stripping doesn’t have to be back breaking work. Our stripper is really easy to use and works in no time at all. All you need is a nice warm day.
BEFORE YOU START
Set aside some time. An average deck, around 10-12m2, normally takes a few hours. Make sure it’s a nice day and above 10°C. If you apply our Stripper when it’s colder it’ll take longer to work. If it’s really cold it won’t work at all. Your deck can be damp but there shouldn’t be puddles of water on it. Remember to protect any plants with a sheet and give your deck a good brush to get rid of any dirt, leaves and twigs.
USING DECKING STRIPPER
Make sure you wear some gloves. Give the tin a good shake then pour the Stripper into a metal or plastic bowl or tray. Use a good size brush, around 4 inches, to put a thick layer on. Work in small sections and don’t paint yourself into a corner, as it can be quite slippy when it’s working. It doesn’t blister or fizz but don’t worry it’s doing the job. Leave it to work for around 30 minutes but if it’s a hot day re-apply the Stripper over any patches that start to dry out. After 30 minutes scrape the surface with something sharp, like a paint scraper, to see if it’s worked. If not, put a bit more on and leave for another 10-15 minutes. You then need to give it a good scrub with a stiff brush. Scrub along the grooves and also across them to help loosen the finish underneath. Pour on some water and keep scrubbing. This will help lift the finish completely off. Finally, give it a really good wash down with a hose or jet wash. Remember, if you’ve missed a bit or have any stubborn spots, just repeat the process. Let your deck dry out for a couple of days. You’ll then be ready to stain or oil it.
CLEAN UP
Take off as much Stripper from your tools as you can. Then wash them in warm, soapy water. Don’t empty the Stripper into drains or watercourses. Your local authority may have special ways to get rid of any waste product.
Usage Areas: On all types of stained and oiled decking.
How Many Coats?: 1 coat will strip most areas. Stubborn spots may need doing again.
Coverage: This 2.5L tin will cover approximately 10-12m2.
